The British Racing Drivers Club have awarded Bobby Thompson the major recognition of becoming one of their BRDC Rising stars. BRDC Rising Stars has a proven track record of selecting only the best of individuals with Lewis Hamilton MBE and Alex Lloyd being two particular success stories from the Rising Star scheme’s history.
Twenty-one-year-old Thompson is the current VW Racing Cup Champion and will be competing in the prestigious Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship in 2018. The British touring car graduate was invited to the BRDC club house at Silverstone circuit to be presented with his prestigious accolade.
Thompson, who took six wins on his way to the VW crown in 2017 said “To be asked to become a BRDC rising star is something that I am very proud of and something I’m very much looking forward to being part of. The last few months have been amazing with winning the VW Racing Cup championship, signing to race in the BTCC with Team HARD and now to be recognized by the most exclusive club in motorsport is a dream come true.”
“I will wear the BRDC rising star badge with pride knowing how prestigious the club is and the caliber of drivers that have been rising stars over the years and gone on to be full members”
The BRDC rising stars scheme is to introduce potential new young members of the club to the BRDC at a formative stage in their careers and the logo will now be displayed on Thompsons BTCC VW CC in 2018.
As well as the bright pink beanies that are worn by staff and fans alike, team hard were in support of Cancer Research UK during the 2017 race season where they had coin collection boxes in order for fans to make donations.
The sum of £229.31 was raised last season and our thanks go out to everyone who contributed.
The team will continue to support Cancer Research UK in 2018 and hope to increase the awareness and the amount that is donated at the end of the season.

Team HARD. Racing have agreed an extended partnership programme with Logicall Wireless Solutions (http://www.logicall.co/ ) that will see an increased presence on the Team HARD. BTCC VW CC’s as well as some of the other cars within the team in 2018.
Logicall is a small company with big ideas much the same as Team HARD. Their team is focused and dedicated on achieving their goal of one day becoming a worldwide supplier of their own wireless temperature monitoring solution. With a wide range of backgrounds, they are able to gain a comprehensive understanding of customers’ needs and being a smaller company can easily adapt to what their customers require.
Ian Morris, managing director said “” Logicall Wireless Solutions are pleased to announce the extension of their successful partnership with Team HARD. After a very good year in 2017, we were keen to build on our relationship and are very excited to be part of all the developments for 2018. We are looking forward to seeing how far the team can push up the grid this season and hoping to be there when they get their first piece of silverware.”
Tony Gilham, team owner added, “We began our partnership with Logicall at the start of 2017 and have developed a great relationship as well as a friendship. It is always great to work with companies with the same ethos and as we continue to develop as a team there will be mutual benefits for us both along the way. Logicall is growing year on year much the same as us. It also helps with Ian being a car enthusiast and was our first customer as we launched the new Team HARD. performance tuning arm of our business.”
We have grown from a single car operation to in excess of 40 cars and 50 drivers in just 4 years. A small family team but now one of the biggest teams in British Motorsport. Motorsport for us is an activation method which is essentially an extensive and varied business hub and one of the largest networking events in the U.K. We have a dedicated team that work for our partners to deliver unrivalled value for money opportunities and head up what is a very unique concept. Our set up is a perfect platform for any brand and we are able to take the exposure and lead generation to a whole new level whilst introducing a far greater level of interaction and communication.
The all new Stilp HARD. Academy is continuing to receive a fantastic response, with lots of plans for what promises to be a very exciting 2018! We are very pleased to announce the signing of Ralphie Reeves from Basingstoke, who at just five years old is already making a name for himself in the karting world, recently finishing 2nd overall in the UK Kart Championship at Shenington, competing against 6-8 year olds. Ralphie has already impressed us with his natural speed and talent, and as he moves up to a new category for this year will benefit from the additional support the academy can provide as he develops as a driver in the years to come.
Ralphie’s father Russell had this to say, ‘As a father I am so proud of my son and what a natural he is, he really took to it without much coaching and continues to improve each time we are out. He really is a little star in the making and is drawing some serious interest and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him, I will be with him every step of the way. Starting early and achieving so much already is a great taster of what’s to come, and we want him to go all the way with Team HARD!’
Team owner Tony Gilham added, ‘This is a very exciting time for all of us at Team HARD. Ralphie really stood out for us, not only as the youngest driver signed to the Stilp HARD Academy, but also with the social media following that he and his father Russell are already working on. We’re over the moon to be able to help Ralphie with his journey up the motorsport ladder, building a strong relationship to give him stability later on in his career. We feel there isn’t enough support for our young stars, and are fortunate to be able to give this with the new academy.
