Number of Seasons with Team HARD:

I’m currently going in to my 5th season with Team HARD!

What made you chose Team HARD?

The team really helped me get back on the grid back in 2015 and I’ve been treated as family ever since. It’s a great team to be a part of.

What are your hopes for the 2019 season?

I want to improve on my debut BTCC season and challenge the top 10 as much as I can. By doing that I might even pick up a few Jack Sears trophy wins!

How long have you been racing?

I’m going in to my 16th year racing and I’m only 22!

What made you want to become a racing driver?

Racing has been in the Thompson family for years all the way back to when my Grandad was racing in the 70s. My Dad and uncle were also racing back in the day until I started way back when I was 8 years old.

What other championships have you raced in?

I’ve competed in lots of different kart series before moving into cars in the Fiesta Junior Championship. I then ventured into single seaters with the Formula Ford ECO Boost championship now known as F4. I won the Volkswagen Racing Cup championship in 2017 and then moved onto the pinnacle, the BTCC.

What is your favourite track?

My favourite track is the one that is furthest away from me, Knockhill in Scotland. The quick direction changes and undulations keep your heart racing throughout the whole lap! It’s mega.

What is your favourite car you have driven?

Slightly biased here but my BTCC Volkswagen CC is the best car I’ve driven. I’m saying that and I drive cars for a living!

If you could drive one race car what would it be?

The Australian V8 Supercars is a series I’d love to be apart of one day. The Ford vs Holden battle is fantastic, and the fans are just as passionate about touring cars in Australia as they are here. Ford or Holden? Ford for me.
