Taylor Returns to the HARD Fold in Ginetta GT4 Supercup Challenge

Taylor Returns to the HARD Fold in Ginetta GT4 Supercup Challenge

We can confirm today that Paul Taylor has returned to Team HARD. Racing for 2019. Taylor, who last raced for the team in 2017 will be taking part in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup which is a part of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) support package. The 2016 and 2017 VAG Trophy champion will be entered as an Am in the series which will be run over 8 weekends, all of which can be viewed LIVE on ITV4.

Tony Gilham, Managing Director of Team HARD. Racing is delighted to be reunited with Taylor after spending last season as rivals in the VW Racing Cup. “It’s great to have Paul (Taylor) back in the Team HARD stable for 2019. He won the VAG trophy with us back in 2016 and 2017 and we both think its time to step up to the Ginetta Supercup after sampling it at the end of 2017.

Paul has some fantastic partners who have been with him for a very long time. From a personal point of view, I’m looking forward to showing them how far Team HARD have come since they were last associated with us. Pauls return to the team is just another sign of how far we have come and the respect we have earnt in British Motorsport over the last couple of years, we are in a very good place.”

Team HARD. Racing are no strangers to the championship, coming runners up in the Pro category in 2018 with BTCC graduate Carl Boardley and recently signing Am champion Michael Crees to their BTCC squad. Taylor is hoping to feed off the knowledge these drivers have of the series as he aims for the Am honours.

“Tony and myself have been good friends for some time now and I can’t wait to be working with the team again in 2019. They did a fantastic job in helping me clinch the VAG trophy in previous years and I can see how hard they have worked to develop as a team.

One of the main reasons for me signing with Tony and the Team HARD squad for 2019 is the knowledge they have of the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup championship. I’ve already spoken to Carl (Boardley) and Michael (Crees) on what to expect this year and I believe that this knowledge will prove invaluable as I aim to hit the ground running!
The plan is to be consistent this year, collecting as many points as possible every weekend. It worked for me in the VAG Trophy and I hope it will work again this season as I push for the championship.”

The signing of Taylor means that Team HARD. Racing will continue to have an ever-growing presence in the Toca paddock in 2019 after the news that the team will be entering the Renault UK Clio Cup in its swansong season. The team is on the rise as it looks to expand its business hub and present new opportunities for drivers of all ages to showcase their talents.

GKR Scaffolding partners with Team HARD. racing for Scholarship

GKR Scaffolding partners with Team HARD. racing for Scholarship

Team HARD. announce GKR Scaffolding as partner for the 2018 Team HARD Racing Scholarship Programme.

The programme will now become the ‘GKR BetterFuture Scholarship’. GKR’s investment means that the scholarship winner will have the chance to test one of the VW CC British Touring Cars at the end of the 2018 race season.

GKR was Bobby Thompson’s platinum sponsor as he became the VW Cup champion last season. As industry leaders in a high performance, skilled environment, GKR focus on growing and developing capabilities and careers via their BetterFuture programme.
As with their investment in Bobby, this partnership will demonstrate natural progression through Team HARD, from grassroots and junior racing to becoming a professional racing driver.

In what is a very tough industry to find support and investment, Team HARD can now offer this whilst assisting the winner in their journey up the motorsport ladder.

The competition will consist of a full day for each entrant at the Croft race circuit between February 19th and February 23rd. There will be on track driving assessments in a GKR VW Cup car with professional instructors. Competitors will also undergo fitness/reaction tests and a media exercise. The top 10 drivers from the competition over the week will be invited back for the final shootout. The winner will compete in the GKR Racing car in the 2018 VW Cup.

Tony Gilham, Owner of Team HARD Racing added:
“It is refreshing to work closely with people that have the same vision as us and companies that want to help create a better future in their respected industries. Between us, we are able to offer a very unique opportunity for up and coming racing drivers. With the support of GKR Scaffolding, we can provide opportunities through the scholarship programme with the added incentive of a BTCC test for the winner. It takes everything to a whole new level.
The scholarship is filling up fast with only limited spaces available. We now expect the remaining places to be taken up very quickly.”

Neil Rowswell, Director at GKR Scaffolding said:
“We have two core values within our business that fit naturally with motorsport – building high performance teams and a commitment to constant improvement.
It’s investment in developing people and their skills that is at the heart of our BetterFuture programme. Extending this outside the business allows us to play an active part in a sport that interests us as well as create a better future for an individual with genuine talent.”

VAG Trophy – Team HARD

Team HARD took the spoils in both races with driver Paul Taylor taking the victories. In race 1 Kyle Owen-Bradshaw claimed a maiden podium and in race two Ben Wallace came second to Taylor.

Commenting after the race Kyle Owen-Bradshaw said: “What an amazing weekend at Brands Hatch. Racing on the GP circuit was an amazing feeling. First time out on it in qualifying, and I thought aim for 12th. Quali over and that’s P8. Race 1 and it was a very wet track. Full wets it is then. By lap 4 I was up to 3rd place. Holding on valienty I managed to come home to take my first podium in my rookie year. Race 2 saw me again start in 8th on slicks with a damp track. A cracking start saw me up to P4 by the end of the lap. Lap 3 saw me up to 3rd again with 2nd place in the cards as the car ahead had a 10 second time penalty. Unfortunately, the engine had other ideas as it decided to let go and that was race over and a DNF. Whilst disappointed, race 1 more than made up for this. Blessed to have Getac Technology Corp as my partner and giving me the opportunity to represent them on such a big stage. Without Getac, the dream would not be the reality it is. Thank you so much for unprecedented support Getac. I hope to be out again in 2 weeks time and continue to push and represent you on the big stage #GetacRacing #KB110 #OneLuv #Gohardorgohome
