Damp and drying conditions made qualifying a difficult affair ending with Jake Hill (JH) 16th, Will Burns (WB) 26th and Mike Epps (ME) 28th. The final 2 minutes of the session saw the times constantly changing making things very exciting from a spectator’s point of view.
Today’s three races saw mixed fortunes and results for our drivers.
Race 1:
A fairly uneventful race saw a all 3 drivers bring the cars back safely.
JH – 21st
ME – 24th
WB – 29th
Race 2:
The first lap got off to an eventful start with a multi-car incident at the first corner which necessitated in the red flag being bought out. Our drivers narrowly avoided getting caught up in the incident, seeing ME testing his off-roading skills again. Sadly JH’s race came to an end with a snapped left driveshaft.
ME – 18th
WB – 21st
Reflecting on the results at that point Tony Gilham tweeted:
“@krcircuit was never going to be a strong track for the @TeamHardRacing VW CC’s. But 4 Subarus in the top 7 of @DunlopBTCC! #timeforachange”
Race 3:
A typical ‘elbows out’ final race of the day saw our drivers battling #HARD to end the day positively. WB was up to 16th after the opening lap but sadly crashed into the barriers at the final hairpin on lap 21. He was checked out by the medical team as a precaution.
The final positions for our drivers were:
JH – 22nd
ME – 23rd
Next on the #BTCC calendar is Rockingham 26th & 27th August when we will be going #RockHARD
