Carl Boardley: We really didn’t get off to a good start in free practice 1 with some rustiness creeping into the whole operation. However, we made massive strides with the car in every session which was reflected in the pace in Sunday’s races.

I’m pleased to have got off to the season with 100% reliability and finish all three races. Scoring points in two of them is also a career high for me and highlights the potential of the car moving into Brands Hatch next weekend. It was great to be able to scrap in the points for most of the weekend although I am slightly gutted to have missed out on the Jack Sears Trophy this weekend. I will be giving it my all at Brands to pick up some silverware.

We have a way to go with the car still, but we are hoping to make further steps this weekend as I start to get comfortable with the car. It’s a completely different feeling to the Volkswagen CC I drove last season but overall, it will eventually fit like a glove and suit my rear wheel drive driving style. Onwards and upwards towards Brands Hatch!

Tony Gilham: A solid opening weekend for our Hub Financial Solutions with Team HARD. squad. Carl is gaining confidence in the car with every session and this was proven with his career high matching finishing in race 3 of the day.

Having four races in five weekends will only help accelerate Carl’s learning of the BMW 125i and I’m looking forward to watching his progression over the coming weeks. Next up, Brands Hatch!
