Andy Wilmot, Team HARD. Racing’s first ever signing returns for Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup campaign.
Team HARD. are very pleased to confirm their second entry in to the Supercup for the remainder of the season and especially with Andy at the wheel who has been with us from the beginning. We have made a huge commitment to a Ginetta programme and logistically it makes sense to add a second car to our setup.
Andy said “I have been part of Team HARD. for a number of years now and have been working very hard behind the scenes to put a package together to return to the TOCA package. Having sampled these weekends before, it was exactly where we wanted to be and to do it with the guys from Team HARD. makes it even more special. I’m realistic with my targets for the weekend but am looking forward to learning the car and getting to grips with rear wheel drive. It’s a great series and cannot wait to get out in the car at Donington.”
Tony added “Andy is a very capable driver as we have seen over the years and we are looking forward to seeing how he gets on in what is very different machinery from what he is used to. A brief shakedown before entering his first full race weekend is somewhat jumping in at the deep end but as a racing driver that makes the challenge all the more appealing. A second entry in to the Supercup is a great addition for us as a team and increases our presence at the pinnacle of British Motorsport. Look out for a very interesting livery.”
The HARD. work now begins at HQ to get Andy’s car ready for next weekend.
The Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship. Seen as a stepping stone into global GT and prototype racing, it caters for career drivers and gentleman racers alike. Featuring both Professional and Amateur classes, both of which enjoy their own points structure and prize giving, the format ensures competitors with time-consuming workloads are not at a disadvantage to those career racers who can test and train throughout the week.
The championship provides the ideal next step from competition in the Ginetta G40 and the Ginetta G55 GT4 car itself is eligible for a number of international GT races, making it the perfect training ground for graduation into the Ginetta G55 GT3 and Ginetta G57-P2.
The next rounds of the 2017 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup will take place at Donington Park on 15th and 16th April 2017.
