23 year-old British Racing Driver’s Club ‘Rising Star’ Jake Hill says he is ‘very confident’ of challenging for success with Team HARD Brisky Racing, having today re-signed with Tony Gilham’s squad for a third successive Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.
Goudhurst-Based Hill starred in his first season with the team in 2016, impressing with his pace and race craft in the team’s Toyota Avensis, continuing to put in several noteworthy performances in 2017 in the VW CC, especially during qualifying, putting the car in the top-ten on five occasions.
“Last season we had some great pace, but our results didn’t really reflect just how competitive we really were. So for 2018 I am really excited to be part of Team HARD Brisky Racing again. I can’t thank Tony, Gary, Kingsley and the guys enough for the faith they have shown in me and the opportunity to continue our journey together. With Geoff (Kingston) on board and seeing the impact he has already made, implementing several fairly major technical changes to the car, I know we will be in a really strong position to regularly challenge at the front”
“My friend and long-time supporter Richard Wheeler from Brisky Racing is an integral part of making this possible for me, and for helping things move forwards with the team. Without him this simply wouldn’t be possible, I am hugely grateful for the faith he’s shown in me”
“Bobby (Thompson), Mike (Bushell) and me will work well together and push each other along, and being paired with Mike to score team points together, I’m really confident we will be in the hunt for the Independent Team’s title. I’m eligible for the Jack Sears Trophy so will do everything I can to challenge for that honour, and of course the Independent Driver’s championship” said Hill.
Team principle Tony Gilham knows Hill’s strengths and was determined to retain his services for 2018. “We have seen what Jake can do, and we wanted to use his experience and technical strength as well as outright pace to help us continue making progress. It’s great to have continuity and Jake is part of the family here. The addition of Brisky Racing has seen us move forward. We already have some great people here, and a fantastic level of support for the team, so the combination of Geoff’s input and Jake’s speed we are very confident that we will be in the mix right from the start of the season”
This is what I have been waiting for. The chance to genuinely challenge at the front – I am SO looking forward to this! I think Team HARD Brisky Racing will be worth watching in 2018!” said Hill.

The engineering side is very important and is essential to lead the team forwards with everything we have planned. Having known Phil for a few years now, it was a very straight forward conversation when we met up to discuss our plans and what we would like to achieve together for the coming season. “
Geoff concluded, “It’s been great to get involved with a new project with Tony and the team and we are very pleased with what we have put together so far. He said after putting pen to paper with Kent based Team HARD.
“I’m delighted to be returning to the Volkswagen racing cup for 2018, we had a very strong first full season in 2017 finishing third in the championship and for 2018 we are looking to build on that success, it’s great to get the deal done early with Team HARD. and Wrightsure insurance, we can work through the close season so we are ready to hit the ground running, I’m looking forward to the season opener at Silverstone alongside the new TCR Championship. I would personally like to give a huge thankyou to Tony Gilham for believing in me and helping me put this deal together, also to Darren, Scott and Ron of Wrightsure insurance group for their continued and amazing support”.

Jamie had a great season in 2017, never being off the podium and finishing 3rd overall, we know he can make the jump to the top of the championship and then look to progress his career further within Team HARD. where we take young drivers from karts all the way to pinnacle of British Motorsport”.
Mike Bushell, who recently took his second Clio Cup title has agreed a deal with Team HARD. and Brisky Racing to return to the BTCC as part of their joint operation to run four cars in 2018.

We now have the ability to fight with the best on the grid so only want drivers that have shown outstanding race craft. Between myself and Richard (Wheeler) we have put a great package in place to bring Mike back to the BTCC at a time when we can mount a strong challenge.”
“I’ve wanted to work with Mike for a while, he’s clearly shown his talent taking two championship wins in the Clio Cup one make series” said Richard from Brisky Racing, showing his appreciation of Mike’s achievements. “I’m really pleased to have put the final parts into place with Tony that Mike needed to return to the BTCC. We have a very exciting year coming for the team”
Mike Bushell continued, “with the new technical input from renowned engineer Geoff Kingston coupled with an already proven race winning car in the VW Passat I firmly believe that a strong challenge can be made for the Independent Drivers Title next year. However, the partnership extends beyond the on-track potential to the infrastructure they have at hand to help me forge a long career in the BTCC. I am itching to get out in the car for our first test and building a strong relationship with everyone. The team have pulled out all stops to help me return to the BTCC grid and I look to reward them with some great results.”
