TeamHARD announce 2014 VW Cup PlansFollowing a very eventful year of highs and lows for Tony Gilham Racing, Gary Allen has taken full control of the VW Cup operation and will build a completely new organisation under the banner Team Hard Racing Limited.
The team will be run and operated from new premises in the Midlands with a much needed fresh approach as they seek to build up to 6 new cars for the 2014 VW Racing Cup.
The original owners of the VW Cup cars will work with Gary and the team to ensure that they are fully refreshed and built to meet the new requirements for the 2014 season.
Team Hard Racing will be announcing their exciting new driver line up in due course.
With the quality of staff and drivers that the team have managed to secure there are very high hopes for the coming season.
Team manager, Gary Allen said
with the experience gained from running the cars last season it was always important to keep the core of the team together so that we can continue our development of the cars and get as much as possible out of the chassis. We have added some key members to the workforce and we are very positive that we can build on the successes already achieved.
All the guys at Tony Gilham Racing did a fantastic job last year. It's a shame that things didn't work out as planned, but that's Motorsport and anything can happen. It's going to be another huge year ahead and a fresh start in essence for a new team made up of existing staff as well as Tony and a few of his 2013 team with some new additions to complete what we believe to be a very strong package. It's very important to build a strong team and also to bring in the right drivers to fit in with the team and deliver both on and off track. We are in discussions with several drivers and will be announcing our drivers shortly said Les Wilson chief engineer.
I am genuinely excited to be part of what I believe can be something very special. I worked tirelessly last year to make things happen but unfortunately too many broken promises made my task even tougher. Admittedly we took on a mammoth project and at times the VW Cup suffered as a result of the BTCC distractions. This year Gary will be leading the team away from any said distractions so hopefully as a result the whole operation will benefit . We tried to run up to 6 cars, made it to every round and picked up some silverware along the way which was a massive achievement. I am so proud for the team of 2013 for sticking with it. Now I have a new role to play and can concentrate on my strengths and work as hard as I can for the team in 2014.
