Team BMR Restart Racing goes HARD

Team HARD are proud to announce another major progression with fellow BTCC entrant Team BMR Restart Racing and the former British Superbike racer Warren Scott taking the wheel of the 2nd VW Passat CC NGTC to the series.

It comes after several months of negotiations between Team HARD and Team BMR. The deal was signed under the watchful eye of both team bosses and with the approval of TOCA officials at Croft race circuit last month.

Team BMR Comment” Team BMR Restart Racing are extremely excited at this decision, we, as a team have had such a great time competing in the BTCC (JST) Series this year so far, The BTCC paddock is a fantastic place to be, it provides not only the best domestic car racing series, but also, it must be credited for it’s great friendly atmosphere.

Unfortunately, purely down to age, the SEAT Leon has been far from reliable. We knew that we would have to make the jump to NGTC for 2014, and it was always the plan to end the 2013 season in an NGTC car, however, due to un-reliability issues, it made sense to make the step up as soon as we could.

Our initial thoughts were that we would have loved to race the new SEAT Leon, however due to the size of the car it would not be accepted to race within the BTCC rules.

We had spoken to several companies, however, when we had an initial meeting with Tony, about the prospect of running the VW Passat CC NGTC, we instantly hit it off and realised that we could really make something work as a joint venture.”

Team BMR Restart manager Mark Turner added “This is a very exciting time for our team and a huge step forwards within the BTCC, we are thoroughly enjoying our racing in this series and we feel moving now to NGTC shows our commitment to the series long term. We have chosen the VW Passat CC NGTC and Team HARD because they fitted in with our future plans and we believe the support will be valuable to our team’s development. Team BMR will continue to keep its own identity, but will be in association with Team HARD.”

Warren Scott said “We are really keen to work with and Team HARD. Tony and his team are a great bunch of guys, we love their philosophy of enjoying the racing alongside being a highly professional, motivated team.

They, in the first half of the season running a newly built, undeveloped NGTC car have achieved some amazing results, the car has shown great pace off the mark, and has unlimited potential with further development under Tom Onslow-Cole, to be a consistent top running car in the championship.

I realise that we still have a long way to go, and a lot to learn, but I am positive that working alongside Team HARD, driving the VW Passat CC NGTC, not only will we become competitive in the championship, but we will also have great fun achieving it.”

The deal sees Team HARD. Become the only other satellite team in the BTCC alongside Honda. Team HARD. will be assisting Team BMR to make the progression from S2000 into the NGTC arena and will be offering them it’s full support.

Team HARD. boss Tony Gilham said of the venture “ Warren has shown some real potential in the SEAT Leon this year so it will be very interesting to see how the transition to a full NGTC car pans out. Warren will get his first outing in NGTC machinery when he gets behind the wheel of one of our Vauxhall Insignia’s at the Dunlop test at Snetterton next week “

Team BMR and Warren Scott will be out for the first time in the VW Passat CC at Snetterton, rounds 16/17/18.
