Cox takes two podiums on VAG return

Saturday followed, a wet start to the day saw a tough qualifying result leaving me in P9 for race one, due to struggling with setup and little experience of the conditions. The day started to clear and by the time race one came around the track had dried.

Getting an okay start I began progressing my way through the field picking three off at the start. Pushing hard and learning the car as I went, I was able to post the fastest lap of the race on lap 4, a whole second clear of any other driver. Coming onto the last lap I found myself in third pushing towards the squabbling leaders as they approached some back markers. Using the lapped cars to my advantage I was able to take the lead for the final corners and claim my first win in senior racing for Team HARD. Racing, not to mention the Team Hard podium lockout, with Sam Edwards in P2 and Simon Rudd in P3.

Next on the agenda was Sunday's two races, both providing challenging conditions. Race two was to stay dry as we lined up with the clouds looming large above the track. With a reverse grid I started from P10. A start line incident spiked a red flag meaning a race restart from the same positions. Making a good start I was able to gain 4 places by turn two. Battling hard with a large success ballast meant my straight line speed was suffering, and towards the end of the race the rain began to fall making it a tad interesting on slick tyres. But after a race long battle with Jason Tingle I managed to pull together a Podium finish in P3.

The third and final race of the day was the worst for me, the heavens opened pretty much straight after race two so it was a exceedingly wet race. After two warming up laps we started the race, a bad start dropped me down the order as i fought to keep position from drivers from behind. A mistake on lap two dropped me down to last and with ongoing understeer issues I was unable to push through to gain any positions finishing P15.

Overall it was a great weekend, glad to see John Stevens racing doing well after his huge crash in race one. Can't thank the team and my team mates enough for the support and car preparation through out the weekend, especially Dan Reid. Also massive thanks to my Old man Paul Cox, and Tony Gilham because without them I wouldn't be out there. Big thank you to Caz, family and friends for your support over the weekend it was amazing. Can't wait for the next one!
